Whilst not a prolific distance runner I do enjoy testing myself and taking part in races that others would deem ridiculous in terms of terrain and distance. Below are some of the events I have taken part in, not always completed but always enjoyed. Click the event to find out more details.
Centurion Events
Centurion Running organise a number of 50 and 100 mile Ultra races, a full list can be found on their website. I have to date taken part in 4 of these awesome events, three 50 milers which I completed within cut off and one 100 miler which I was unfortunate not to complete.

LDWA Events
The LDWA – Long Distance Walkers Association organise a number of challenge events throughout the year and at 20 or 30 miles they are ideal training for Ultra marathon events. Over the years I have had the pleasure of taking part in 4 of their events, the final Summer Tanners in 2010 and then 3 Winter Tanners. The great thing about Tanners is that you never know what the route is going to be until around a week beforehand and when you do get the route they are simple written instructions that if not followed carefully can mean easily getting lost, something I have done on more than one occasion but never too badly! What you do know however is that whatever route the organisers plan it will be hilly, most likely very wet underfoot but always beautiful taking in many countryside trails in and around the Surrey Hills, what’s not to like.
