Second Sunday 5

Organised by Thames Hare & Hounds this race is a regular monthly event that is becoming more and more popular especially among club runners. The course which is entirely trail around the lower part of Wimbledon Common is usually either wet or soaking wet especially along Beverley Brook but is always fun to run. This is an excellent race organised by an extremely friendly club and is well worth a visit and great for bench marking your fitness each month as you try to beat your course record.

Consisting of two laps the courses starts at the club HQ at the Richardson Evans Memorial fields beside the football pitches and heads out along Beverley Brook. You are then turned left into the uphill section along the Toast Rack and then back down through the common back to the Brook where a marshal will send you off for your second lap back along the Brook and up the toast rack, back down to the marshal who then sends you back along the Brook to the finish where you started.

This is a no frills event, well marked and cheap as chips with entries for club runners £4 (£5 on the day) or £5 for non club runners. If you run on a regular basis you’ll even get a free T-Shirt for running six, twelve then twenty four runs.

One great thing about this race is that once you are done you can head on up to the club HQ and grab yourself a free cup of tea and an iced bun, you don’t get that at every race!
